The last time I interviewed for a gig, the last question from the last interviewer was this: “So what do you do in your off hours?”
Ugh.
Now, I know this question was meant to be friendly and relatable, and I certainly appreciate that. But it’s a tough one for me. My primary hobby is really just being a nerd.
If I say, in response to that question, “I read, constantly, about the couple dozen subjects I’m interested in,” does that count as a hobby? Would I come off as a weirdo for saying that? I feel like I would, even among geeks.
